European Qualifier

The Republic of Ireland Under 19s take on Poland in Serbia on Monday afternoon as the UEFA Under 19 Championship qualifiers get under way (Kick off 4:00 Irish time).
With just one team to qualify from the group that also includes Albania and hosts Serbia and Montenegro, Ireland face a difficult task though manager Sean McCaffrey believes that with a little bit of good luck, his side could book a place in this year's finals in Northern Ireland.
“It’s a tight group and I think every side is capable of beating each other. With a little bit of luck, we could win it and get to the finals. The side we have this year deserves a place in the finals and confidence is good at the moment,” said McCaffrey.
McCaffrey is planning to select an adventurous 4-3-3 formation for the game as he copes with the loss of two of his key men, Paul McShane (Manchester United) and Joe O’Brien (Bolton Wanderers) through suspension.
