European Cup Qualifier
08.09.2007 at 19:30 - Slovak Stadium, Bratislava

Republic of Ireland travel to Slovakia aiming to keep their Euro 2008 qualifying hopes on track, live on Sky Sports 2.

Steve Staunton's men are currently in third spot in Group D six points behind leaders Germany and one point adrift of second placed Czech Republic.

The Irish need to record a win to Bratislava as they face Czech Republic four days later in a crunch clash.

Defensive duo John O'Shea and Paul McShane are expected to play after shaking off knocks.

However, Liverpool defender Steve Finnan is missing after being ruled out with a knee problem.

Darren Potter is also an absentee with a groin injury and he joins Wayne Henderson and Alan O'Brien in pulling out of the squad.
Record

Shay Given is set to become his country's most capped goalkeeper when he returns from injury to take his place between the sticks.

The 31-year-old is in line to win his 81st cap and he will surpass Packie Bonner's record.

Slovakia are missing star striker Robert Vittek after he picked up a knee injury last weekend.

Rangers striker Filip Sebo, who is currently on loan at Valenciennes, is expected to replace Vittek in attack.
