Under 16 Victory Shield
28.10.2019 at 11:00 - Colliers Park, Wrexham
The Republic of Ireland Under-16 Head Coach Paul Osam has named a 20-man squad for the Victory Shield in Wales next week. 23rd Oct 2019
Osam’s team will take on Scotland (Monday, October 28), the hosts Wales (Wednesday, October 30) and Northern Ireland (Friday, November 1) all at Colliers Park, Wrexham.
The Under-16 squad return to the UK after their last outing saw them draw 3-3 with England at St George’s Park in August.
Osam said: “This tournament will give different learnings to the players on how to adapt to the styles of play of different opposition.
“These are three competitive games, it’s not a friendly tournament - make no bones about that. It will give the squad a real education in competitive football.
“We’ve got a really good crop of players in nearly every position. I have five centre backs I could pick from that are all as good as each other. In midfield, both defensive and advanced areas, we have really good players and up front we have a lot of strength and a lot of goals.
“I’m excited about the group and looking forward to working with them throughout the year.”
