New Irish U16 Head Coach Paul Osam is looking forward to taking charge of the side for the first time and has enjoyed the preparation work put into the process ahead of the four-team tournament.
“Everything has gone well so far. We got the players together on Thursday and trained then we had a session on Friday also. We have had several meetings with the players going through the objectives for the group for the week and we are looking forward to the first game tomorrow," he said.
“We will be looking for a good performance. We will be looking to see if the players have taken on board what we are looking to do offensively and defensively. Every game that you play you would like to win but win, lose or draw we will analyse it afterwards and look at the areas we can improve upon."
Osam has been impressed by the technical level of the players available to him but he also wants to see the other attributes that the players possess come to the fore this week.
“Every single player we have here is technically comfortable which is hugely important if you want to play through the thirds and play constructive football in the right manner," he added.
"I was pleasantly surprised with the technical level of basically all the players but the game is more than about technique, you have to marry that with endeavour and concentration and the ability to carry out the tasks that are required of them in the game.”
