Cork set to host U16 double-headers

Republic of Ireland Under-16 Head Coach John Morling has urged his players to make an impression this week against Belgium in what will be their final games of the season.
John Morling named an extended panel, divided into A and B selections, for the pair of double-headers against Belgium. The first games take place today at Turner's Cross in Cork, at 5pm and 7.30pm respectively, and the nations meet again on Thursday at O'Shea Park in Blarney (11am and 1.30pm).
"This is an opportunity to see a broad range of players at a good level against a decent Belgium side," said Morling.
"The core squad members have been with us throughout the season but I've recalled some players from earlier matches and added some new faces that will get their chance over the week.
"I'm expecting all four games to be close, as they have been in recent years at underage level between Ireland and Belgium."
This is the first time Morling has brought his squad to Cork and he's been impressed with the reception his players have got since they assembled on Sunday.
"I would like to thank College Corinthians and Douglas Hall for providing Belgium and ourselves with their training facilities this week. I can truthfully say that having been away earlier in the season with the Under-16s in Italy and Turkey as well as with the Under-17s recently in Greece, the facilities here in Cork are far superior.
"Underage games in Cork during previous years have attracted good turnouts and I would be hopeful the public will get behind the players in the four matches this week."
Ringmahon Rangers goalkeeper Eric Grimes is just one of several Cork representatives in the squad.
