Republic of Ireland U16 manager, John Morling has announced an 18 man squad for a double international friendly in Malta on the 11th and 13th September. Morling was forced to make two changes to his squad with the withdrawal of St. Joseph's Drew Armstrong and Sami Ade Osobe from Glenmuir. Replacing the injured duo is Salthill Devon's Colm Horgan and Jason Keane from Bohemians of Waterford.
John Morling is set to give a number of players their first appearance in an Irish shirt including Mark Timlin, Joseph O'Brien, Colm Horgan, Conor O'Donnell and Jack Nardiello from Leicester.
Speaking ahead of his sides visit to Malta, the Irish boss said, "It is unfortunate that the two players (Drew Armstrong and Sami Ade Osobe) got injured at the weekend but their misfortune is an ideal opportunity for Colm Horgan and Jason Keane to step up to the international stage. We have a number of players who have yet to feature for the national side but they have impressed recently at the Umbro Galway Cup and for our recent B game against Wales so there is a chance for them to come to Malta and stake a claim for a place in the squad."
"At any level, it is always important to get positive results but from my point of view it would be more pleasing to get a good performance from the two games and give international experience to players who have performed so well in our regional emerging talent centres throughout the country," he added.
