Republic of Ireland Under-15 Head Coach Niall Harrison has announced an 18-player squad for next weeks double-header away to Finland.
The Under-15 squad opened their campaign with a trip to Qatar in December where they drew 3-3 against the Aspire Academy before beating their hosts 2-1 in the second instalment of the double-header.
In keeping with his stated aim of affording the best talent international experience, Harrison has introduced eleven newcomers to the panel for these pair of outings on Tuesday, January 25 (6pm local time) and Thursday, January 27 (1pm local time).
"I was delighted with how the lads performed out in Qatar last month against a strong Aspire side," admitted Harrison.
"This, however, is the first international campaign for these playes and it is vital to assess different players in order to broaden the pool by the time we hand over the group to Under-16 Head Coach John Morling in May."
Harrison recently held an assessment day for 45 players outside of the 18 who featured in Qatar.
He added: "It is important to realise, therefore, that lads have not been dropped from the squad. Other players not included for Qatar have impressed with their clubs as well at the assessment day and deserve their chance.
"Finland play a nice brand of football, so we will expect a good test for our players over the two games.
"By the end of this double-header, we will have seen 29 players in international action. At that point, we willl reassess before choosing the squad to play Belgium at home in another two matches on March 22 and 24."
