John Coughlan Memorial Cup

Jim Crawford has named the Republic of Ireland home-based Under-18 squad for the John Coughlan Memorial Cup against Wales. 16th Feb 2018
Crawford’s side will take on their Welsh counterparts on two occasions next week in Waterford with the winner on aggregate picking up the trophy.
“This squad is derived from the recent interprovincials that took place recently. With the help of the provincial managers I’ve selected the squad for the double header,” said Head Coach Crawford.
“This competition is a worthwhile exercise, it exposes the players to international football and they get to experience a professional set up.
“The games are always competitive and there is of course a trophy at stake. We’ve seen players that previously played for this side go onto a higher level, most notably Alan Browne who picked up a senior cap last year, so it is a fantastic opportunity for the players.”
Ireland's first game takes place in Waterford RSC on Tuesday followed by a second tie on Thursday in Tramore.
