SOCCER: The Republic of Ireland U17 team boss Brian Kerr has named a panel of 18 to compete in the U18 Youth international tournament of Vaclav Jezek in the Czech Republic later this month writes Kevin McKenna.
The Irish have been drawn in the same group as Norway, host nation the Czech Republic and Hungary for the event in Nynburk (August 26 to September 1).
15 of the squad of 18 were involved last March in the European U17 qualifiers in Dublin and who lost in injury-time to Yugoslavia at Richmond Park, thus missing out on a chance of reaching the finals in Denmark the following month.
The three newcomers are Mark Quigley (Millwall), Adrian Harper (Sheffield Utd) and Gary Cassin (Longford Town).
