International football comes to Mayo next week with the Republic of Ireland Under-17 boys squad facing Azerbaijan in a double-header friendly.
Ireland, under the supervision of new head coach Tom Mohan, will be in action at Milebush Park in Castlebar on Tuesday August 28 (6pm) and Thursday August 30 (12 noon).
These matches are part of final preparations for the first phase UEFA qualifiers next month. Ireland will be up against Sweden and Romania and hosts Macedonia in a mini-group from September 29 – October 4 when the top two will progress to the elite stage next year.
"It is great to be able to have the first Under-17 international games in Mayo and I hope the public to come out to watch these good young players," said Mohan.
"Many of them have only recently moved to the UK and we will have a look to see how they have settled in."
Schoolboys and schoolgirls are free into the games, with adult tickets at € 5 which can be purchased at the gate.
