25.09.2010 at 11:00 - Qali National Stadium,
New Republic of Ireland Under-17 manager John Morling has chosen his squad for the upcoming UEFA Championship first phase qualifiers in Malta from September 25-30.
Ireland will compete with mini-group hosts Malta along with Albania and Norway for the top two spots in the group which would advance them to the elite stage of the qualification series next year.
Morling succeeded Sean McCaffrey in the Under-17 managerial seat last month and has kept faith with the bulk of the squad that played three friendly matches at the Hungarian invitational tournament in August.
The Irish squad will assemble next week and spend two days training before departing for Malta, where they open their campaign against the host nation on Saturday week, September 25 (11am) at the Centenary Stadium, Ta Qali where all six of the qualifiers will be staged.
Following that fixture, Ireland are back in action two days later against Albania (2pm) before concluding on the Thursday, September 30 by meeting Norway (2pm).
