PAUL Doolins Republic of Ireland U19 side will face Slovenia tomorrow (Thursday) in the second of their two friendly internationals this week at the RSC Waterford (1pm).
The Irish suffered a 3-0 loss to Slovenia on Tuesday so Doolin knows this encounter is likely to be another testing game for his troops.
Ireland are preparing for the UEFA U19 Championships qualifiers in October when they travel to Sweden to meet Azerbaijan, Bosnia Herzegovina and the hosts.
"We did a light session today and we will discuss the match with them tonight," said Doolin this afternoon.
"Having look back on the DVD there are definitely areas where we can improve on but we were beaten by a good team, a physically fit and strong side and we were not able for it unfortunately.
"We will have a look at the guys who did not start the other day and all of the players have a chance to prove that they have something to offer for the qualifiers.
"In addition to that we will be looking for an improvement in the performance. There are some good players in the squad but we are still trying to find a team for the qualifiers. We are still looking at players and you would prefer to be further ahead at this stage."
Tom Mulroney of St Patricks Athletic FC will be joining the squad today to replace Craig Donnellan of Cork City FC who was had to be withdrawn due to injury. Shelbournes Matthew Taylor had been drafted in for Tuesdays game but suffered an arm injury and is out of contention.
