Changes to Squad Paul Doolin makes changes to U19 squad for UEFA Championships qualifiers
REPUBLIC of Ireland under-19 team manager Paul Doolin has been forced to make a couple of changes to his squad for the UEFA U19 Championships qualifying tournament this week.
Kenneth McEvoy (Tottenham Hotspur) and Ryan O’Reilly (Stoke City) have withdrawn from the squad due to injuries picked up with their clubs.
Kealon Dillon (Hull City FC) and Steven Smith (Leicester City FC) have been called up in their place. Both of these players were able to assemble in time on Sunday to fly out with the overall travelling party.
Ireland travelled to Luxembourg over the weekend for the mini-tournament where they will meet the hosts, FYR Macedonia and Germany in Group Five.
Under 19 Squad Update
REPUBLIC of Ireland U19 boss Paul Doolin has had to make a further change to his squad for this week’s UEFA Championships qualifying tournament.
Inverness midfielder Conor Pepper has been forced to withdraw from the squad in Luxembourg and is returning to his club today after suffering an aggravation of a recent ankle injury.
Newcastle United’s Brandon Miele has been called up in his place and will link up with the squad in time for this evening’s training session.
“It’s unfortunate for Conor as the injury was innocuous enough but you can’t afford to take changes with these things,” said Doolin.
“Training has gone well and we’re looking forward to the challenge ahead. It’s difficult to get all your ideas across when you have limited time with the squad but I’ve been pleased with how the lads have responded.”
