Stephen Gleeson will captain the Republic of Ireland Under-21s for the first time when the Young Boys in Green take on Armenia in Yerevan today.

Gleeson replaces regular Under-21 captain Owen Garvan, who is suspended for the fixture. Although Gleeson has 13 previous Under-21 caps, this will be his first time wearing the captain's armband.

The MK Dons midfielder will joined in the middle of the park by Seamus Conneely of Galway United and Graham Carey of Celtic.

Cillian Sheridan (Plymouth Argyle), James Collins (Darlington) and Jay O'Shea (Birmingham City) will start up front, while in defence Lanre Oyebanjo (Histon) will make his first start at this level. He will be joined in defence by Callum Morris (Newcastle United), Darren Dennehy (Hereford United) and Cian Hughton (Lincoln City).

In goals, Shane Redmond (Burton Albion) will win his 12th cap.

Kick-off in Yerevan is at 11am Irish time.
