Christopher Swan
Player statistics are not complete...

Inside right Chris Swan joined the Tigers in August 1925 and began the 1925/26 season in Bill McCracken’s first XI supporting centre forward Paddy Mills. Swan scored his first goal for City in his third appearance, a 1-0 win at Bradford City, however by October Chris was out of the first team and didn’t return until late March 1926. In 1926/27 Swan missed only four games playing mostly in a more withdrawn wing half role, though he did manage four goals in four wins during October 1926 while restored to the forward line, against Southampton, Bradford City and a pair against Blackpool. In 1927/28 Swan’s versatility became his enemy as he played intermittently for McCracken as wing half, outside right and inside forward. Chris was selected only thre times during 1928/29 season and left Hull City in the 1929 close season.

Christopher Samuel Swan was born in Byker in the east end of Newcastle Upon Tyne, and was an England Schoolboy international at the age of 15. World War One interfered with his footballing development but when the Football League resumed after the conflict in 1919 Swan signed for Newcastle United, playing alongside future City manager Bill McCracken. In four seasons Chris made only four appearances, three of which came in successive fixtures in April 1920 with the fourth coming eighteen months later. In March 1923 he transferred to Stockport County and in two seasons he made 33 appearances for the Hatters, 21 of which came in 1923/24 season. He made the switch to Hull City in the 1925 close season.

Swan left the Tigers in 1929 and joined Crystal Palace but in two seasons at Selhurst Park he made only six first team starts. After a season playing in the Irish League for Waterford he joined ambitious Midland League side Scarborough in August 1932, where he ended his playing career. By 1939 Swan had returned to Newcastle, living in a Georgian end-terrace off the Westgate Road and working as a bar manager and electrician. He died in the summer of 1979 in Bournemouth.
