Peter Desmond Inside forward was a member of the Irish Forces when he started his career with Waterford.

His second season was played with Shelbourne where he was a member of the side beaten 3-0 by Dundalk in the 1949 Cup Final.

Within weeks of the final himself and Arthur Fitzsimons were transferred to Middlesborough

His Irish debut was against Finland in 1949 and was a member of the team that beat England in that famous match in Goodison Park
