Match report
Rep of Irealnd 2 Lithuania 1

Sean Mc Caffreys boys qualified for the Elite Phase of the European Championships with thsi 2-1 victory over Lithuania.

Henry Mc Stay and Stephen Wrad grabbed the all important goals to ensure that Irealnd topped their group following their 10-1 win over San Marino and their 1-1 draw with Bulgaria

Ireland took the lead in the 14th minute when Mc Stays header came back off the crossbar but with Christy Deans following up Mc Stay made no mistake withhis second chance.

Lithuania equalised when Mc Stays back pass was short and Ivaskevicius had a simple chance to tap in past Paul Murphy.

With Lithuania being reduced to 10 men they decided to sit back and try to hold on and it looked as if they would hold out fora draw until Ward popped up with a 92nd minute winner.
