An experimental Irish side with seven home based internationals beat the mighty Germans in Dalymount.
WP Murphy describes the game as follows
" the game can be best summed up in the language of a house painter. First was laid on an undercoat of dull grey in the first half, then a second coat which put Ireland in the lead with a penalty and finally the varnish of the last five minutes when we scored two goals to put the gloss on this third home victory over the Germans thus keeping our 100% record against them in Dublin"

The first half as described was a dull affair with Ireland playing with a strong wind but unable to break down the German defence.

The second half started with the Germans having the advantage of the wind pushing forward and a good save by Kelly from Rahn.

17 minutes into the second half Ireland finally scored.Curtis was sandwiched between Ehrhardt and Wewers and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Cantwell stepped up and gave Kwiatkowski no chance with a bullet like left footed drive from the spot.

Five minutes later Ireland had a lucky escape as Mai had a great shot come back off the butt of the post.

Kelly came to the rescue of the Irish as he smothered a shot from Vollmar after the German had delayed too long before shot.

Haverty scored a glorious goal after 87 minutes when racing from inside his own half he slid the ball past the advancing keeper to put Ireland two up.

Fitzsimons then forced Kwiatkowski to save at the expence of a corner which led to the third goal. Mc Cann took a short corner to Dunne and taking the return pass he unleashed a left footed shot which was deflected past the keeper by full back Justowiak.
