Republic of Ireland 1-2 Norway

THE REPUBLIC of Ireland Women's U19 side lost a keenly contested friendly with Norway at Dublin's AUL Complex this evening.

Both sides are preparing for the UEFA WU19 Championships which take place in Norway next month.

Megan Connolly put Ireland ahead with a brilliant free-kick from Megan Connolly after ten minutes.

Norway equalised in the 64th minute when , Synne Skinnes Hansen fired to the roof of the Irish net with a thumping strike from distance.

The visitors then grabbed the winner in the 74th minute when substitute Sara Johansen turned home following a brilliant cross-field ball from Karina Saevik.

"It was a good game for us and a reminder to the girls of the level we can expect in the finals tournament. We are working hard on our fitness and match sharpness after a long lay-off for some of them with exams since the qualifiers. It was a very good exercise for us," said Connell.
