THE Republic of Ireland Women's U17 side recorded an impressive 4-0 victory over Romania in the UEFA WU17 Championships Elite Qualifying Round this morning.
Goals by Jess Gargan, Sarah McKevitt and Megan Lynch plus a Kinga Barabasi own goal gave Dave Connell's side the three points.
Ireland finish second behind Spain in the group and will be awaiting the results from the other groups in the coming weeks before discovering if they claim the best Runners-up spot which would see them progress to the finals in England next month.
Gargan put Ireland ahead in the sixth minute after goalkeeper Linda Kajtar had saved an Evelyn Daly effort then Barabasi was unfortunate enough to score an own goal.
McKevitt added Ireland's third goal on the half hour before Lynch wrapped up the scoring in the 60th minute.
Ireland had previously lost 2-1 to Spain and beat Iceland by the same scoreline,
