Under 19s lose in La Manga

The Republic of Ireland Under 19s lost the second game of the La Manga Tournament 2-0 to the Czech Republic on Thursday evening.

The result leaves the group delicately balanced with all four sides, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Norway and Denmark on one win each ahead of Friday’s final games when Ireland take on Denmark and Norway face the Czech Republic.

Ireland still have a slight advantage on goal difference following an opening day 3-0 victory over Norway, and will need to bounce back quickly after a disappointing result against the Czechs.

Ireland were struggling from early on when Jan Simunek hammered home the opening goal from the edge of the area after 15 minutes before Frant Isekrajtoral made sure of the game with a breakaway goal 22 minutes from time.

Team: Randolph (Charlton Athletic); R Keogh (Stoke City), Gibson (Manchester United), Kelly (Unattached), Collins (Huddersfield Town), Morris (Leeds United), A Keogh (Leeds United), Hand (Huddersfield Town), Dicker (UCD), Tracey (Preston North End), Castle (UCD).
