Harry Kenny's Republic of Ireland women's U17 team completed their preparations for the upcoming UEFA Championship qualifiers with an impressive 2-0 victory over Northern Ireland in Newry on Sunday.

Goals from Amber Barrett and Amy O'Connor ensured that the Irish travel to Macedonia for the UEFA Championship first qualifying phase in winning form as they look to qualify from Group 2 which also includes Italy, Romania and hosts, Macedonia.

With only one team guaranteed their place in the second qualifying phase, all eyes will be on Harry Kenny's side who will open their campaign against Romania on October 10 before they meet hosts, Macedonia two days later on October 12. The Irish finish the first qualifying phase with a mouth-watering meeting with Italy at the Kukuš Stadium in Strumica on October 15. While the group winner will automatically book their place in the elite qualifying phase, there are also four runners-up places available with with the best record against the first and third-placed teams.
