Women's World Cup qualifier Republic of Ireland 3-0 Israel Fiona O'Sullivan 59, 64, 80
Fiona O'Sullivan scored three second half goals to sign Ireland' Women's World Cup qualifying campaign off on a winning note against Israel on Wednesday night at the Carlisle Grounds.
Ireland found their visitors, one place behind them in fourth, difficult to break down in the opening 45 minutes but a moment of magic just before the hour mark by the American-born swung the game in their favour.
She broke the deadlock with a spectacular long-range shot on 59 minutes, shielding a long ball with her back to goal 30 yards out before side-stepping her marker Moran Fridman and unleashing a shot that whisked inside the near post of Iris Antman.
The San Francisco Storm forward pounced to net the second five minutes later after Israel failed to clear a corner by Áine O'Gorman, who was bizarrely issued with a second yellow card on 70 minutes for taking a free-kick before the whistle was blown.
O'Sullivan grabbed her hat-trick with ten minutes left by latching onto Meabh De Burca's defence-splitting pass and burying a low shot past Iris Antman.
Ireland were already confirmed to finish third in the group before the game and will march on to next year's European Championship qualification campaign in confident mood.
