IRELAND'S youngest international team conceded a late goal in either half to lose a keenly contested friendly game against Turkey in Antalya this afternoon.
Ireland U15s Head Coach Colin O'Brien was delighted with the performance his youngsters produced.
Hamza Tosun put the hosts ahead on the half hour with a clever turn and finish and the second goal came in the 69th minute when Görkem Çelik fired home after breaking through the Irish defence.
"It was a good performance overall, especially in the first half," said O'Brien.
"We were playing against a good Turkish team and it was a good education for the boys. The match was played in 20-22 degrees for most of the game so it was a new learning curve for them.
"We did well but unfortunately conceded a late goal in each half. Of course it's very disappointing to concede like that but overall we felt should have taken something from the game.
"We got into some good areas and got dangerous crosses into the box but unfortunately there were no real clear-cut chances. We had very good structure and really good build up play."
Ireland will rest tomorrow morning then have a light session before meeting Holland in the second of two friendlies in Antalya on Saturday afternoon.
"We've played the Dutch before. They'll be very good opposition for us and a different kind of challenge," added O'Brien.
