Republic of Ireland Under-15 2-2 Belgium Under-15
Val Feeney (pen) 65, Jordan Toland 79

The Republic of Ireland Under-15 side battled back from a two-goal interval deficit to claim a draw against a classy Belgium side at the Oscar Traynor Complex today (Thursday).

The Irish squad had vastly different look to that than the selection which won the first game between the nations on 1-0, with eight newcomers drafted in for the second part of the double-header.

Belgium had the better of the opening half and David Henen hit Ireland with two quick-fire goals seven minutes apart approaching the break.

The striker showed his power and pace on 32 minutes to break into the Irish box and chip the goalkeeper for the opener before his low shot to the bottom-right corner doubled the lead.

Ireland should have reduced the arrears ten minutes after the interval when a deep Alex O Hanlon free-kick into the box fell invitingly for Dylan McKeever but the Waterford youngster could not get the necessary power on his connection six yards out.

Fifteen minutes from full-time, Ireland managed to find a way back. Reise Collier was taken down inside the area, enabling Val Feeney slam home the resultant penalty kick to the keepers right corner.

And concerted pressure in the final stages delivered an equaliser as Jordan Toland crept in from the right to finish off a cross from the opposite flank.
