Aspire Academy (Qatar)3 Rep of Ireland 3 U-15

Statto: Niall Harrisons first game as manager of Under 15 side.

The Republic of Ireland Under-15 squad earned a deserved draw against the Aspire Academy in Doha today (Tuesday) in the first part of this weeks double-header.

Ireland led on two occasions during the contest played in temperatures of 26 degrees Celsius but were forced to come from behind in the end to salvage a draw courtesy of a last minute equaliser by substitute Muhamed Bukhatwa.

Niall Harrisons Ireland side started with a flurry against a team that trains together twice a day and hit the front with just six minutes on the clock.

Joel Coustrains cross into the box was adjudged to have been handled and midfielder Jack Byrne converted with an assured spot-kick.

Twice in the space of six minutes, Ireland came extremely close to extending their early advantage. Dean O Halloran struck his free-kick off the underside of the crossbar on ten minutes before Byrne also encountered the woodwork with a low effort from twenty yards.

Aspire gradually provided a response to Irelands wave of attacks and got back into the contest on 24 minutes with a superb equaliser executed by Akram who gave Irish goalkeeper Peter Burke no chance with a shot from distance.

Ireland were back in the lead seven minutes later. Dean O Halloran raced away down the right and curled a cross into the box where Val Feeney arrived on cue to volley his effort back across goal and into the far corner.

The second half was barely a minute old when Ireland gifted the home side the second leveller of the day. Mirat intercepted a stray pass inside the Ireland half and finished with aplomb to make it 2-2.

Chances continued to flow at either end, with O Halloran and Feeney denied by a double-save from the goalkeeper on 56 minutes.

However, it was Aspire who grabbed the initiative for the first time in the game on 70 minutes when awarded a penalty for a shove on Adam Ecs inside the box. Jasim showed a cool head to slot the spot-kick past Burke.

And, just minutes Aspire were denied their fourth by the post, the boys in green displayed their mettle by finding a third goal from the last passage of play.

Liam Traynor along with substitutes Jordan Tolland and Corey Galvin were involved in the build-up on the wing and the latters pinpoint cross was guided home by the head of Muhamed Bukhatwa.

The teams will meet again on Thursday in the second match of the week.
