Match 30

Germany 1 (Schon)
Republic of Ireland 1 (Bradshaw)

Statto: 20th Cap for Joe O'Reilly

Before a capacity crowd of 35,000 Ireland drew 1-1 with the host country after falling behind to a first half goal scored by Schon.

Ireland retained their unbeaten tag for the season. The seating accommodation had been sold out some days before the game and the ground was full to capacity.

Germany had decided to use this game as a warm up for the 1940 Olympic Games.

After 35 minutes Dunne collided with Rohde resulting in Dunne leaving the pitch and not returning.

After 38 minutes Kupfer passed long to Gauchel who headed the ball to Schon who slotted past Mc Kenzie in the Irish goal.

Dunne eventually returned to the wing after ten minutes of the second half.

Eventually Ireland equalised after Fallon crossed for the in rushing Bradshaw to head to the net.

The 1940 Olympics did not take place as world war two broke out 4 months later.

This was Ireland's last game until 1946.
