Republic of Ireland 1 Scotland Clifford 76
After retrieving an early deficit to beat the Czech Republic 2-1 in Monday’s group opener, Ireland were made repeat their heroics when the Scots opened the scoring through Sean Fitzharris with seven minutes gone.
Ireland captain Conor Clifford provided the equaliser with just four minutes of the contest left. The Crumlin United midfielder hit an unstoppable shot from the edge of the penalty area low into the bottom corner of the net after Jason Wallace made inroads down the channel before setting up Clifford with a cross.
Ireland can clinch top spot in the group and earn a place in the final of the tournament on Friday should they overcome the USA in Wednesday’s last group game at Inver Park in Larne (kick-off 7.30pm).
The Americans came from two goals down to beat the Czech Republic 3-2 in the other group game played yesterday.
