Jim Crawford's last game as manager of u18 team

After Tuesday's 1-0 win over Wales, Jim Crawford's side knew a draw on Thursday afternoon would be enough to win the Cup back, after Wales won last year in Waterford.

Ireland took the lead midway through the first-half through captain Rian Ashe, before Telor Williams equalised for the home side before the half-hour mark.

The final five-minutes of the first-half saw Wales take the lead through James Parry, before Ashe equalised and Aaron McDaid scored what proved to be the winner, just before half-time.

Speaking after the game in his final match as Under-18 Head Coach, Jim Crawford was delighted for the players, winning twice away from home in the space of three days.

"The team is a very talented group. Despite the result, I thought we player better on Tuesday. The boys showed great character, especially after going 2-1 down. The players deserve their success today.

Crawford now joins Stephen Kenny's Republic of Ireland Under-21s as Assistant Coach, and he has enjoyed his time at the age-grade.

"The staff I assembled have been excellent. I'm proud to have worked with them."

"There are too many players to mention what I've worked with but that quality have been excellent. The future bodes well for football in Ireland\".
