Match report
Canary Islands 1-0 Rep. Ireland

Despite a somewhat embarrassing defeat to the Canary Islands, manager Sean McCafferty has admitted that he has learned a lot about his side in the Copa del Atlantico.

Playing their third game in four days, McCaffrey’s side were tired after their exertions in remaining unbeaten against the might of Spain and Italy. Friday night’s game proved a step too far for his young side with the home side scoring the winner thanks to a 65th minute header from Dailos Perez Collado.

“We may have lost but it’s been a very encouraging week,” said McCaffrey after the game. “We played very good teams in Spain and Italy and drew both games and we used all 20 players in the squad with 19 of them starting.

“I learnt a lot about the players and we’ve got two more games this season against Turkey in April which will allow us to develop this team even more.”

Rep. Ireland U17’s - Randolph (Charlton Athletic), O’Leary (Aberdeen), O’Halloran (Aston Villa), Fitzgerald (Lourdes Celtic), Lordan (Ipswich Town), Hayes (Reading), Gibson (Manchester United), Fraher (Cork City), Synott (Ipswich Town), Weir (Belvedere), Rafferty (Wolverhampton Wanderers).

Subs - Reilly (Shelbourne) for Hayes (HT), Clarke (Ipswich Town) for Weir (HT), Gaynor (Millwall) for Rafferty (HT).
