Republic of Ireland 1-2 Turkey In last nights Under 15 International Friendly, Turkey scored a goal in each half to soar into a 2-0 lead and Irelands late reply through a Karl Shepard penalty proved to be just a consolation. The Republic started the game brightly but found themselves a goal behind inside ten minutes when Turkey opened the scoring from a free-kick. Ireland continued to create chances for the remainder of the half and Greg Cunningham came agonisingly close to equalising when his close-range shot was cleared off the line by a defender. The visitors scored again with 12 minutes left to make it 2-0 and Ireland spent the rest of the game camped inside of Turkeys half searching for a life-line. Aaron Doran brought a wonderful save from the Turkish keeper but Ireland were rewarded for their constant pressure with five minutes left when substitute Karl Shepard dispatched a penalty after Gavin Broughall was tripped in the penalty area. Ireland get a chance to record a good result when they meet Turkey again on Thursday at Whitehall (Kick-off 12.30pm).
