Brian Kerrs U-19 Ireland side take a slender 2-1 advantage to Turners Cross tonight as they attempt to qualify for the European Youth Championships. Goals from Stephan Elliott and Sean Thorntan last month in Rotterdam has left Kerrs team with a great chance to advance to the eight team tournament this July at the expense of Holland and Kerr is backing the Turners Cross crowd to give his team a massive lift.
He said: "We do have a slight advantage being 2-1 up but we still have to be at our best if we are going to go through and the crowd can play an important role in helping us."
Kerr may change his formation slightly ahead of the game and change from the 4-3-3 formation, used in Rotterdam, to a more counter attacking formation. "They have to come at us from the start and that is what I expect them to do. We will not set out to play a counter attacking game but we may have to," he added. |
