Brian Kerr's Republic of Ireland under-17 side opened their qualification campaign for the European Championships with a defeat to Germany at St Colman's Park, home of Cobh Ramblers, this evening.
A 3,000-strong crowd witnessed Germany take the lead in the 31st minute through Aaron Hunt. And two goals from Asken Dejagah in the last five minutes saw the Germans run out winners on a 3-0 scorline.
Ireland play next on Wednesday, against France at Turner's Cross (7.30pm kick-off) and then face Slovenia, also at Cork City's ground, on Friday (7.30pm k.o.).
Earlier, France beat Slovenia 2-1 in Fermoy. |
