Match report

Brian Kerr's Ireland Under 17 team continued their good form at the Lisbon Invitational Tournament with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Norway - Robert Doyle grabbing the winner just six minutes before full-time.

It was Blackburn striker Doyle's second goal in as many games. The Wicklow-born front-man raced onto a long ball from substitute goalkeeper Saul Deeny, which was missed by defender Erik Evjen, to fire over keeper Hakan Otval to grab the winner.

"The great thing is that we have had a look at all 18 players in our squad now and we are still in with a shout of winning the competition," said Kerr, whose side face hosts Portugal on Sunday (6.00pm) in their final fixture.

"Both teams were tired but I felt we deserved the victory in the end."
Deeny had an excellent game after his introduction at half-time, just two minutes after the restart he produced the save of the game to tip a Talberg shot against his crossbar.

Declan Field - recently released by Arsenal - looked lively in the first half, testing Otval with three efforts while Cork City's Joe Gamble almost grabbed an opener with a brilliant dribble past three Norwegian players only to see Otval save with his feet.
