European Qualifier Elite Stage / PROG-match |
Ireland were beaten today in the Under 19 Elite Round of the European Championships in Slovakia.
Ireland now face an uphill battle to qualify as Turkey defeated Georgia 6-0 and Ireland have to beat Turkey on Sunday to be in with any chance of qualification.
It could have been far worse as only quick action by Doctor Ronan O Callaghan saved the life of Chris Mc Cann who swallowed his tongue after a clash of heads and was unconscious for 4 minutes.
Gladly the news is good as Chris was brought to hospital where he has passed all medical scans and is currently sitting up in bed.
Also in the wars was Ian Morris who had to receive two stitches for a cut on his fore arm and is also off to hospital for an x ray on his wrist.
Scores for Ireland (were Nolan and Stokes) who were behind 1 nil, drew level with a penalty by Eddie Nolan went behind again only to draw level 2-2 through Anthony Stokes and eventually to conceed a third goal.
