Match report | Preview
On the night that Diane Caldwell became the team's seventh centurion, the Ireland Women's National Team won 5-1 over Albania in the UEFA Nations League at Tallaght Stadium.

27th Oct 2023

This was another sold out event for the WNT and a crowd of 5,732 turned up to cheer on a team that has found its attacking groove under Interim Head Coach Eileen Gleeson.

Captain Katie McCabe netted a hat-trick - her second for Ireland at senior level - and provided two assists for Kyra Carusa to score a brace and cancel out the early goal from the visitors, scored by Megi Doci.

In many ways, the spotlight on this night was shared by McCabe and Caldwell. For the skipper, it was a masterclass in counter attacking and she was a joy to watch in full flow. For Caldwell, she even tried a couple of long-range shots to top her night.

Carusa finished brilliantly when she needed to and every player contributed to what was an impressive team performance. With 12 goals scored and one conceded after three games, they are moving well.

Ultimately, Ireland did what they had to do in order to collect the three points and make it three wins from three in Group B1. They will meet Albania again on Tuesday, October 31 in Shkoder.
