The Ireland Women's National Team continued their impressive start to the UEFA Nations League with a 4-0 victory away to Hungary in Budapest. 2633402.jpg 26th Sep 2023
Having beaten Northern Ireland 3-0 in the opening Group B1 game, Ireland went one better by scoring four times in this fixture to move onto six points.
Caitlin Hayes headed the visitors in front following a superb cross from captain Katie McCabe, who then upstaged everyone with a thunderbolt of a strike to make it 2-0.
A header from Kyra Carusa increasd Ireland's lead before Sky Ireland Player of the Match Denise O'Sullivan fired in the final goal to cap off an impressive win.
This was Ireland in a new way. They played higher up the pitch, attempted more progressive passes and created more goalscoring opportunities as they controlled the game throughout.
Goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan did have to be on alert to deny Hungary on a few occasions but she never looked in doubt of conceding and earning a 13th clean sheet overall.
Ireland will know that they can still improve with their overall and that will be the most encouraging aspect of this game as they won it but can be even better.
