Shelly Wakers and Sally Manley showed that the visitors have also progressed immeasurably la the skills of the game, prompting one to ask will the sound of "Land of our mothers" be heard instead of the more traditional air'
The Irish girls went to attack from for the start and,but for bad finishing the efforts of Hanlon, Hynes and Eileen Brennan must surely have reaped better rewards.
Nevertheless, they managed lead 1-0 at the interval, Leslie Judd tripping Hyness in The area. The tall attacker converted the penalty herself for what was to be the only score of the match.
Ireland's defence, with Paula Brennan and Margaret Griffin rock solid as twin centre halves, coped capably with everything the Welsh girls threw at them
Indeed towards the close, the Irish side could well have added a few more.
