Hamilton Accies 16-year-old James McCarthy has been voted best young player during the month of October in the Scottish Football League.

The midfielder received his Irn Bru award after scoring twice during a month in which Hamilton won all three of their games in Division One.

McCarthy has attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

And his form this season has helped Accies become surprise leaders in the race for promotion to the SPL.

James has represented Ireland at Under 17 in the European Championships which wre held in Germany last year.
