Wexford win Pro Soccer Tournament
Wexford Schoolboys League retained the PRO SOCCER tournamaent on a wind swept bitterly cold Thursday in Kilcullen. The competition in its second year saw the Kennedy Cup squads of Kildare , Carlow and Wexford play each other in a round robin event.
The first game swa Carlow take on hosts Kildare and inflict a 3-1 defeat on them with goals by Dale Byrne (2) and Aaron Murphy to a solitary goal by Stuart Cullen for Kildare from the penalty spot.
The second game saw Wexford face Carlow and Carlow looke the likely winners as they turned around level after playing against a strong wind. However Wexford had differant ideas and with goals from James Gardner (2), Javk Tim Murphy and Johnathan Maguire ran out comfortable winners.
Kildare stood between Wexford ultimate victory. It proved to be no match as Wexford ran out easy winners with goals from Ian Byrne, Gary Byrne (2), and Michael Bowler (2) to retain the trophy they won last year.
